Writing

As a writer, I aim for a style that evokes what I am discussing rather than explaining it didactically. Writing on trauma, for example, can involve repetition and a sense of frozen time.

The Traumatic Uncanny

The Psychoanalytic Review · Vol. 112, No. 3 · September 2025

In this essay, I explore the uncanny resonances between the life, writing, and tragic death of French philosopher and psychoanalyst Anne Dufourmantelle. I develop the idea of the “traumatic uncanny” to think about trauma, repetition, witnessing, and forms of meaning that resist easy interpretation or redemption.
